As broadband nears universal coverage and tablets and smart phones drive online inclusiveness, digital engagement is fast becoming the main way to reach stakeholders. Up and down the UK, Network Rail is using our digital consultation tools to communicate with their stakeholders, from responsive websites to touchscreens at events, all helping to demonstrate how they are proposing to meet growing demand and passenger numbers.
When Crossrail opens in 2018, Abbey Wood station is set to become one of the busiest railway hubs in the UK. Network Rail is responsible for rebuilding and transforming this station. We have devised a consultation to communicate their exciting plans to the thousands of commuters who pass through the station daily. With such a huge undertaking, we needed to get across what the proposals would mean for rail commuters, how it would work and how any disruptions to service would be managed - and so we designed a bespoke digital consultation both available online and also on touchscreens for stakeholder events.
People are used to visiting websites and using touchscreens in their everyday lives so we have taken these day to day communications methods and built them into consultation tools - from interactive maps to 3D scenario simulations and feedback forms, everything has become easier to visualise and understand. This ambitious multi-million pound project is now underway and we are continuing to work with Network Rail to ensure commuters are kept up to date with what is going to happen and when.
