National Grid is rewiring London via deep underground tunnels, in order to meet increasing power demand and access the renewable energy of the future. It was our job to create a consultation website to keep all stakeholders up to date with the proposals throughout the lifetime of the project. We designed the site so that people can keep up to date with latest news, ask specific questions and find out when the work will be carried out in their area, using an animated map of the tunnel routes. As part of the wider consultation activity, National Grid created an Energy Education Centre in north west London, a free facility to help school children understand energy and to strengthen their interest in science. We supported this with an Education Centre portal on the website, designed to help teachers educate their classes about energy before and after visits to the Centre and to enable pupils to explore the subject in more depth.
